FLOWER STORM STUDIOS
tor shenandoah forest was born on his grandma's round oak table in Brooklyn, New York in May 1935. He grew up in the sticks of Long Island, many years without a mother, electricity or running water. He published his first poem at eight, dug his first well at ten, built his first house at twelve, started his third business at fourteen, hit the rowdy road west to South Dakota at seventeen.
Tor moved to the West Coast to become a master landscape architect and was largely responsible for converting insufferable parking spaces to green belts in California, notably at the Fort Mason Project, San Francisco.
Shenandoah's Magic Bus Coffeehouse For All America visited with the rich and the poor, the weak and the powerful, the lost and the saved, from coast to coast, during 1970 and '71.
Tor's belief in the formidable just be real message of The Hippie Era inspired an amazing cross section of red, white and blue Americans to re-evaluate their color scheme.
As J. Krishnamurti said, "We don't make love. Love happens in its own way, in its own time. What we can do, however, is to prepare the soil in which it will grow. That soil is called 'FREEDOM'." And it needs constant tender loving care!
Tor began teaching Strategic Wandering at University of New Hampshire in 1972-1973, the first 'awareness' course at college level.
He brought simplicity and kindness to America from his Magic Covered Wagon home studio, traveling the deserts, forests, cities, mountains and prairies of North America from 1980 to 1985.
During a visit to Kathmandu in 1991, he inspired the Dalai Lama to give up Tibet and adopt the whole world.
Tor Shenandoah lectures occasionally on personal awareness, mindfulness and the principles of natural, intuitive design of architecture for public and private outdoor spaces, as well as development of creativity through art.
